Going Down Memory Lane

During the Summer of 2001, I had an opportunity to travel to Japan as a Fulbright Scholar for six weeks, where I would replace the original grant award winner and work with a Junior High in Sapporo on a project that had already been pre-arranged.  The original grant winner had already met with the three teachers from Japan during our Spring Break, and they had traveled back to Oklahoma and visited our school and community during the break as well.

Recently, I reviewed my documentation of this experience and wanted to put it out there for others to learn from.  The experience at the time was so enlightening to me as I had never traveled out of the country while I have extensive experience in the United States.  I found my original emails back home where I shared my experiences, and decided that I would incorporate them, some additional notes, and the photographs I had taken to document this life changing experience.

What follows is the "diary" of the six week experience and photos taken.  I hope anyone who comes across this enjoys the travel down memory lane and learns as much as I.
